Shepherd's pie
Ingredients
1 kg potatoes peeled and cut into 1/4
1 medium onion peeled and diced
1 medium carrot diced
250 gm minced beef
1 egg(beat lightly)
2 slices of cheese
50 gm butter
100 ml milk
a pinch of nutmeg
2 tablespoons oil
a handful of chinese parsley
salt and pepper
Preparation:
Preheat oven to 200 C
1. Saute onion in 2 tablespoons of oil till soft and lightly brown.
2. Add diced onion,carrot and minced beef,season with salt and pepper.
3. Stir till cook and moist,before off the fire add a pinch of nutmeg and chinese parsley and mix well.
4. Place the beef in a large oven-proof casserole and set a side
5. Boil potatoes in salted water till tender,drain thoroughly add 50 gm butter and milk.
6. Mashed potatoes to a creamy consistency,season with salt and pepper.
7. Spoon mashed potatoes evenly over the beef.
8. Glazed with egg and add cheese slice if desired.
